Identification crisis

Before we go deep into this conversation, I want you to lend me your at most attention because this article needs it all. Let's begin.
Definition of the word 'identity' is, 'The fact of being who the person or a situation is'.
The word 'identification' means, 'The act of identifying a person or a situation authentically. (The plain truth).
These two words are the most fragile, yet the most impactful in any kind of society (human or non-human). Why and how is what I'll try to put through, here.
Identifying is an unconscious act that all humans have evolved to develop. All the while, judging the identity is what makes this phenomenon so fragile.

Consider this example. As you go on reading the list below, start imagining one clear image of them adjacently.
A nose
An ear
A stool
A car
A man
A woman
A demon
Heaven
Hell

Great. Now, if you carefully observe, the first three elements don't quite change even if you think about varieties that you have seen. The next three serve you a lot many choices and varieties to imagine and picturise.

We can admit to the fact that the interpretation of the bottom three are just manifested imaginations of various different people (authors, artists, film makers) around us or just the societal reflection in our head. This is a case where 'identification crisis' begins its toll on us.
'Identification crisis' is a phenomenon of falsely identifying a person or a situation based one's judgemental thinking.

Heading to 'samudra manthana' (the mythology that explains the origin of all the elements on planet earth), the 'devas'(gods) and the 'danavas'(demons) churn the mountain together with equal might. And both certainly have the same biological bodies, only different visionaries or as I want to call it, 'identification' of the planet. This difference in identifications leads to a war between the two and as the gods would have been strengthened by 'amruta'(the eternal drink) in advance,so emerge victorious.
Shifting our thoughts back to the representation of the above scenario in any art form, the god is always portrayed as stronger (usually white skinned) with higher intellectual prowess, a figure to follow, while the demon is dark, ugly, lord of shame, born evil who feeds on pain.
There are several exercises of this everywhere around us. Let's try catering them into memory.
1. Theatrical shows that some of us grew up watching, have very contrasting costumes for the good and the bad respectively.
2. Paintings. Though modern arts and masterpieces do not promote the differentiated colouring within the portrayal of good and the bad, earlier ones (that were made at the time of modern history and NOT during the vedic period) do follow the ethics.
3. Movies. From the age old ramayana of the anime artists to the modern day 'Bahubali' or be it any commercial rom-com down south in India, the villain is usually dark, unhealthy, born evil, loves harassing only white women (given that there aren't too many other shades of the skin in the whole movie's cast).

The number of fields that have fallen for this illusion is endless. Does this have any impact on the modern day citizens? Let's verify.
Women in our country since the birth of cinema, have been objectified and showed to be just a minor part of any life form and this still continues willingly. Anyhow, 'identification' of women by the other sex is still junky. Men brought up in many regions weigh women to be pretty toys to play with.
When this 'identification crisis' is tried to be dealt, abuses are bound to occur to women who try standing up, by both the sexes.(UP, Bihar, Rajasthan being a certain concern). Women here, have a false identity in the perspective of men.

While stalking, eve teasing and such so, have been the lower degrees of denting a woman's freedom, rapes and murders have now risen to the brim for which the law isn't attentive at all. When a girl walks on the streets of India, celebrating her choices of freedom on clothing, she is bound to be the victim of 'identification crisis'. The identity of this woman in a man's perspective shifts from being "a human just like any" to "she wants it".
This identification crisis is a product of the kind of upbringing people have used on their spouse or offspring.
(if you don't connect at any part of this article, please do revise the definition of identity and identification)
Moving on, this phenomenon called 'revenge' too has 'identification crisis' clipped to it. Let's read a story.
A certain kid (say Daniel) watches his mother being shot by a killer in rage, mercilessly. Days pass and his rage on the killer grows as a tree within. Growing up, he gradually forgets how his mother was and her values in his life and paints the killer's bigger picture in his head. One fine day he finds the killer in a car along with her son having a great time(I'm smiling and you know why). He picks up a stone off the road and rushes towards the car to then realise he is re-creating the same scenario for the killer's son to grow up to.
This certain story might give us a hint on how terrifying identification crisis can be. If Daniel had identified the killer as who had ended his mother, he would have easily gifted the same identity upon himself and then onto someone else, while the killer's true identity would've got the same result as the kid's mother (shadowed by rage of revenge).

Staying put to the same story, if I tweak it a little and say, the kid grows up in rage for the killer and joins an anti military group in an illusion to find and kill the bad, he will be labelled a terrorist and will always be seen in the identity he painted himself with, rather than being an apple in the eye of his mother.

Now, if kids of this generation grow up watching movies that adhere to identification crisis (fair skinned protagonists, dark skinned villains, songs with provocative, sexist and many times racist lyrics), they will BE bound to produce false identities on each other and make this planet a disgrace to live upon.
A certain help to avoid this, is to stop supporting even hints of such media and entertainment systems. Another step is to raise awareness among the mass audience that entertainment does not have to always be in forms of identification crisis.

Trying a different note, the political accidents in India have also had roots to identification crisis.
1. All India Bakchod, a certain comedy brand was under scrutiny for a blame of joking about sex in a country that holds a population of 1.2 billion. identification crisis was the joke and not sex.
2.Though banning beef is still an argument that can last long for days, it was instantly converted into a topic of communal knifing. Identification crisis in the minds of hindus and non-hindus was the actual villian and not beef.
3.Reverting back artists to Pakistan was the major laugh of the year as people tried identifying a terrorism promoter in all of them.
4.River issues are a tradition down south. Kaveri is not identified as a source of life, but is a priced possession through political dominance.
The list is long and sad looking at the number of years that have already passed the day this country got its freedom.
As I conclude, the only thought that cooks up in my mind is that this country ( the sub-continent rather), has a glorious history under its name and thus, let's do our bit to give the country its identity back.
Let's make better choices to endure freedom of true identification of all living beings on this planet.
